Google expands PPA Beta

Google today expanded its pay-per-action (PPA) advertising beta to include all advertisers with more than 500 conversions from their pay- per-click and pay-per-impression based campaigns in the past 30 days.

The search company said it would only show the pay-per-action ads on publisher sites in the Google content network, also known as Google AdSense for content sites.

Pitts and all other Google advertiser who qualify will have their chance to join in starting today. Google said advertisers who have already joined the beta will see an alert in their AdWords account informing them that they can now create pay-per-action campaigns.

YouTube’s New Procedure

Video sharing website Youtube has just innovated a new procedure in uploading videos.The videos uploaded by users will be checked for copyright IDs and in the case of the video having violated the right,the owner of the original video can flag the video to YouTube for moderation.The right owners my also apply to get a share of the revenue produced by the video

ESPN acquires Cricinfo

Television sports broadcaster has acquired top cricketing website Cricinfo in one of their latest deals here.Although the sum has been withhold,it is expected to be quite a bit,considering the fame of cricinfo.

In a recent study held,it is known that cricinfo has a whopping 35% of the cricket traffic in the web world.

Online Gambling

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA),has barred all credit card and other online banking systems from performing transaction in online gambling sites.

This new law does not apply for horse betting and internet lotteries.

Mobile Media Measurement

According to the Nielsen Company,more than 33 million users use the mobile web and more than 8 million people use mobile video in every 30 days – that is a whopping figure!

The company – Nielsen Wireless is starting up a service which studies how many people use the mobile phone for various media purposes like Music,Videos,Games etc. on different scales.

The first of it’s products is the ‘Mobile Vector’.Nielsen Wireless intends to get the figures of the users.It aims to be a hot spot with the mobile advertisers.

Yahoo! recently launched it’s own similar products – for the same reason.Their services include Mobile Ad Network,Mobile Content Engine,Mobile Media Directory and Mobile Site Submit.

AOL is on it’s track as well.It launched it’s product Three Screen Media last month – a mobile advertising network,mobile ad serving and management-platform provider.

Nielsen Network has studied that most of the mobile viewers and male and the subscription to sports media is in a large number.

Salesforce & Google Join Hands

Salesforce.com today announced it’s extending partnership with google.The two of them said that they were aiming to produce an SMB.

According to the deal,Salesforce will replace Salesforce Team Edition with Salesforce Group Edition featuring Google Adwords.

This will allow 32,000 Salesforce customers to distribute their online ads with Google.In turn,Google Analytics will have them finding the top keywords which customers bring and help them refine their product.

Xandros Takes Microsoft’s Linux Patent Protection

‘Novell’ was the the first Linux vendor to get Microsoft’s intellectual property assurance pledge.But it’s not the last one.

Xandros and Microsoft announced have entered into a similar agreement as the one with Novell.

According to the deal,Xandros and Microsoft will collaborate on stuff related to office applications,systems management,sales and marketing support and a few other areas.

Xandros is a Debian-based Linux distribution that has focused on Windows interoperability as one of it’s core features.Xandros typically includes the CodeWeaver’s CrossOver Office application that enables Linux users to run Microsoft Office on Linux.

Google buys Feedburner

Feedburner,a privately owned Chicago company which syndicates more than 700,000 bloggers and podcasters was bought by Google on Friday.

The price of the purchase where not disclosed although a Reuters report suggests that it is around $100 million.

Lenovo Launches New Model

Lenovo has launched it’s latest addition to the X series ultraportable ThinkPad notebooks with the launch of the ThinkPad X61 with improved security,battery power and wireless networking.

The X61 line features new security measures, like a 32-byte hard drive password connected to the fingerprint reader for pre-boot authentication. Also, administrators can lock down any part of the computer, such as the CD writer or the Bluetooth, Firewire and USB interfaces.

The X61 Tablet can also reach the 12 hours of battery life, just like the standard laptop. The think pad is said to cost approximately $1500.00

New RealPlayer

Real Networks has launched it’s latest RealPlayer software.It will be available next month and simplifies finding,storing and sharing media content to a large extent.

The new RealPlayer supports videos,Windows Media Player,Flash,Quick Time and it’s own RealPlayer format.Another addition is the ‘RealPlayer Plus’ which cost $29.95 and can store to DVDs.

At the conference,Ben Rotholz,general manager for web services and syndication at Real hinted on future RealPlayers with a feature to download the videos on devices like the ipods.
